Optimized placement of symmetrical service function chain in network function virtualization

چکیده
Network function virtualization (NFV) is one of the key technology enablers for actualizing 5G networks. With NFV, virtual network functions (VNFs) are linked together as a service chain (SFC), which provides functionality customer on demand. However, how to efficiently find suitable placement VNFs regarding given objectives an extremely difficult issue. The existing approaches assume that SFC has simple and asymmetrical pattern unsuitable modeling real system. We address this limitation by studying VNF optimization problem with symmetrical SFCs can support both symmetric asymmetric traffic flows. This NP-hard formulated mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model. An iterative greedy-based heuristic proposed overcome complexity MILP Extensive simulation results show obtain near-optimal solution compared small-scale network, at same time, superior traditional large-scale network.

Optimal Service Function Chain Composition in Network Functions Virtualization
Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) is an emerging initiative where virtualization is used to consolidate Network Functions (NFs) onto high volume servers (HVS), switches, and storage. In addition, NFV provides flexibility as Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) can be moved to different locations in the network. One of the major challenges of NFV is the allocation of demanded network services i...

The virtualization of Radio Access Networks (RANs) has been proposed as one of the important use cases of Network Function Virtualization (NFV). In VRAN!s (VRAN!s), some functions from a Base Station (BS), such as those which make up the Base Band Unit (BBU), may be implemented in a shared infrastructure located at either a data center or distributed in network nodes. For the latter option, one...
متن کاملNetwork Function Virtualization: A Primer
Network function virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Networking (SDN) are widely acknowledged as potential disruptive technologies of next generation computer networks. The network operators are pushing the frontiers of NFV to reduce operational expenditure (OPEX) and capital expenditure (CAPEX). Network vendors and academic researchers look upon NFV as an opportunity to speed up innovati...
متن کاملA comprehensive survey of Network Function Virtualization
Today’s networks are filled with a massive and ever-growing variety of network functions that coupled with proprietary devices, which leads to network ossification and difficulty in network management and service provision. Network Function Virtualization (NFV) is a promising paradigm to change such situation by decoupling network functions from the underlying dedicated hardware and realizing t...
